Kitchen, walk-in pantry, linen and wardrobe joinery for a new build in Leichhardt — black matt handleless cabinetry with a 45° sharknose fingerpull, Calacatta Maximus 40mm stone, and Vivid White 2pac joinery with a J-groove pull.

This was a new build in Leichhardt, so there was no old kitchen to work around — we were fitting out empty rooms, which meant the joinery could be set out properly from the start rather than worked around existing plumbing and walls. The kitchen is black matt, completely handleless. Instead of hardware on the doors, every door and drawer front is machined with a 45° sharknose edge fingerpull, so the fronts read as one continuous black surface with nothing breaking the line. The benchtops, the island and the full-height splashback are all 40mm Calacatta Maximus, with the veining carried up the wall behind the cooktop and sink rather than stopped at a tiled band. The island is finished with waterfall ends in the same stone. Off the kitchen, the walk-in pantry keeps the same black finish — a full-height open-shelf unit for dry storage, and a stone bench under the window for the appliances that would otherwise sit on the main run. The rest of the house is the opposite finish: Vivid White 2pac polyurethane, also handleless, but using a J-groove pull rather than the sharknose profile. That covers the full-height linen run, a walk-in robe with open shelving, a drawer bank and hanging rail, and the built-in robes. Two finishes, one detailing language — nothing in this house has a handle on it. Hardware throughout is Blum soft-close hinges and Häfele soft-close drawer runners.

Kitchen

Black matt and completely handleless. Every door and drawer front carries a 45° sharknose edge fingerpull, so there is no hardware breaking the surface. Benchtops, island and full-height splashback are 40mm Calacatta Maximus, with waterfall ends to the island.

Walk-In Pantry

The pantry keeps the kitchen's black finish — a full-height open-shelf unit for dry storage and a stone bench under the window, so the appliances stay off the main run.

Full-height linen joinery in Vivid White 2pac polyurethane, handleless like the kitchen but detailed with a J-groove pull instead of the sharknose profile.

How the finished project improved storage, flow and finish quality.

Two finishes and one detailing language across the whole house — black matt in the kitchen and pantry, Vivid White through the linen and robes, and not a handle on any of it. Being a new build, the joinery was set out first rather than fitted around existing work.
